Collaborative Publishing with Duke University Press
Scholarly communication is changing.
At Duke University Press, we are embracing change by viewing the future as
an immense opportunity to collaborate with the scholarly and research communities.
In recognition of this opportunity, we have launched an ambitious initiative:
leveraging our affiliation with Duke University and the Duke University Medical
Center, we will partner with ten science, technology, and medical (STM) journals
and their sponsors by 2010. Our future is captured in the words of our provost,
Peter Lange: “We all hope and believe that Duke can serve as a model
to show how university presses can play a key role in moving scientific and
medical publishing back into the nonprofit sector, and thus help to counter
the trend that has allowed certain large commercial publishers near-monopolistic
control of the journals market, to the fiscal detriment of academic institutions.”
We also remain proactive in exploring publishing partnerships with humanities
and social science journals and their sponsoring societies and institutions.
We have partnered with a number of prestigious societies and institutions,
offering them
We would like to talk with you about the publishing goals of your journal or journals.
